GUIDELINES FOR OUR LADY OF ALL GRACES PRAYER GROUP
1. The prayer group leader acts as a facilitator, he or she guides and oversees the prayer group.
2. Opening prayer; if a priest, deacon or religious attends the meeting, he or she will do the opening prayer and the anointing. Otherwise, the prayer leader will pick someone willing to lead the prayer group in saying the opening prayer. The person doing the opening prayer invites and acknowledges the presence of Our Lady, Our Lord, and the Holy Spirit and asks them to guide the prayer group.
3. The Prayer of the Heart (without the meditation) and the Salve Regina will be said by all members of the prayer group.
4. The Deliverance Prayer and the Prayer to Saint Michael the Arch-angel will be said by all the prayer group members. The space provided in the third paragraph of the Deliverance Prayer, 'I rebuke you. I order you to remove your influence from the life of ...'; the intention will be for our nation and the nations of the world. (When praying the Deliverance Prayer privately, you can also add some special needs.)
5. The Christian Renewal Prayer and the Prayer to the Holy Spirit will be said by all members of the prayer group.
6. The Holy Spirit Prayer: 'Come Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of the Mother, your well beloved spouse.' (say this prayer three times)
7. Announcements: Before the reading of the message from Our Lady of All Graces, the prayer group leader will make the announcements. Announcements should be brief.
8. Reading of the message from Our Lady of All Graces (do not repeat the Prayer of the Heart). If willing, (nothing should be forced on anyone) each person in the prayer group will take turns reading each paragraph. After reading each paragraph, the prayer members can discuss and ask questions.
9. After the entire message is read, the prayer group leader will ask members: What did they get out of the message? What do you think Our Lady is saying to you?
10. Anointing of the prayer group members with the Deliverance Oil. The anointing will be done by a priest, deacon, or religious if present. Otherwise, the prayer group leader will pick one of the prayer group members to do the anointing The person doing the anointing will call on the Holy Spirit and ask the Holy spirit to fill each person they anoint. The anointing will be done on forehead, palms of each hand and under the neck, while saying 'In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.' The anointing can be done silently or verbally, however the Holy Spirit leads the person doing the anointing
In this way, we are acknowledging the presence of the Holy Spirit and asking the Holy Spirit to fill each person with His gifts. The purpose of rotating the person doing the anointing each week is to empower each prayer group member. No one person is greater than another; we all have gifts which are to used and expressed.
During the anointing the Holy Rosary will be said, but does not have to be completed. (It is more important to say one fervent decade of the rosary than to rush through all the decades.) The Holy Spirit will lead the prayer group and guide them in the direction it wants them to take.
11. How to pray over the members who have already been anointed:
The first person who has been anointed will be prayed over by the second person who is anointed. The third person who has been anointed will be prayed over by the second person and so on. The last person to be anointed will anoint the person doing the anointing. The first person who was anointed will then pray over the person who was doing the anointing. Note: those prayer members who have already been anointed and are not being prayed over should support the prayer leader with their prayers so there is oneness and unity in the prayer and blessing.
After this has been completed, the prayer group leader will ask the prayer members if there is anyone who would like to be prayed over for healing or stand in for someone who is in need of healing or any other special needs. Once this is completed, there will be a brief period of quiet meditation of thanksgiving to offer ourselves to God through the intercession of Our Lady. During the prayer time, we have been asking for gifts from the Holy Spirit, now it is time to thank HIM and let HIM know that we are surrendering our hearts to HIM.
Some unexpected things may happen during the pray meeting such as dormation (being struck in the spirit), prophesy, or other forms of events which should be attended to calmly and with prayerful understanding.
Any other forms of events not under the authority of the lay person, such as exorcism, should be met with the silent prayer of Deliverance and referred to the appropriate authority in the church through the most accessible priest.
12. Closing prayer: The person who did the opening prayer will do the closing prayer. (Songs can be the closing prayer and are encouraged for both the opening and closing prayers.)
